Andy Fry

Andy and his wife Alison celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in September 2019. They have three grown-up children and four young grandchildren. Andy has a wide range of interests, but spending time in his own small music studio comes high on the list. He also loves the outdoors and especially fell walking and being in the mountains.

Andy originally studied Mechanical and Production Engineering while working in industry, initially as a Design Draughtsman. He became a Project Engineer with Kent Industrial Measurements before joining the IMI Fluid Power Group. In 1989 he left industry and joined the team of ministry staff at what was then known as The King’s Church, based in Aldershot. In 1991, Andy and Alison moved with their family to Alton in Hampshire to lead the King’s Church there which was part of the local network. Supported by the church, Andy’s role continued to evolve, allowing him to spend more time on work overseas and then developing SALT. He became self-employed at the beginning of 2018 and continues to serve various organisations and situations.

Over the years, Andy has spent time in a number of countries, including some in Sub-Saharan Africa and has been involved in work that includes teaching and leadership training with various organisations and groups. He has also served on the trustee boards and management committees of a number of charities, gaining valuable experience particularly with Shaftesbury Housing and Citizens Advice. Andy is currently the Chair of Trustees for SALT uk.
